this watch is so cool- every function works- the only problem is that there are supposedly FAKE casios out there and this might be one only cause it has absolutely no water resistant rating on the back pannel-??? I don't want to test it so i just havn't got it wet, i'm sure it will get wet one day and only then will I know how water resistant it is... no biggie though


I've owned several casio watches.
I owned many in the databank series over the years.

The good:
For the most part they are all great functionally.

The bad:
Plastic issues.
Even with regular use either the (black plastic) bands break or the pin receiver portion of the watch breaks (the area where the band's pin seats itself).
[I take the watch off for showering every day, and it really irks me to have a band start cracking about the 11 month mark].

For the most part, I get about 12 to 18 months use out of a casio, before something breaks. (and it is almost as much to fix as it would be to buy a new watch.


Last year I had one of these and when the band started breaking/cracking, I repaired it with a "plastic repair" kit from Urethane supply company.
The area where the band broke would remain in good shape, but a new crack would start. After 4 plastic repairs, I gave up.

I replaced my databank with a metal waveceptor. Or I thought it was metal. Most of the watch body was simply plastic plated with chrome.



This watch is great, the reason I bought though was for its nerdy class, if that make any sense. In terms of use however it's very easy to use, I especially like using the stopwatch function since the buttons are so big. The only quirk I have about this watch is the light button that presses sometimes activates itself if you're laying on a flat surface.

Also if anyone here is a fan of "The Office", this is the watch that Dwight wears :)


Watch is great, my boyfriend loves it. Only concern was that the shipping box had opened on delivery. Every thing was in the box and working fine regardless.


This is the third Casio Databank Digital watch I have owned. It operates as advertised except the button used to initiate input is very difficult to operate. It takes many "pushs" to get it to work. A person who found it difficult to manage small buttons would find it difficult to use this watch.


Great watch -- great price -- fast shipping, what else is there!!

This is a great, nicely designed watch. It's got a metal band and it's pretty comfortable to wear once you get it fitted to your wrist right and you are used to the fold over clasp.

It definitely tells time and it does it's job well. If you're looking for a simple elegant watch, this is for you. Sure it's not packing in a lot of features like atomic synchronization or solar battery powered, but for about $15-$20, you really can't go wrong with this watch.

Only thing wrong I could see is wish there was a count down timer and perhaps make the watch water resistant to a deeper level than it already is.


Product arived on time and in tact and was as described. I'm very satisfied.


Good quality product. Simple - no fancy staff - just what most people need.
Thin - 8.5mm. Has 12/24H display. Very visible even in low light. Very accurate - 7 second per month in my case.

Cons: band is not steel, does not display month, not water proof

This is the fourth Casio watch of this type I have owned and it is a very good value. The price is right and the quality is excellent.


Bought this watch for my wife about a month ago and she loves it. Very cool '70s-'80s retro styling is a fun change of pace from the more current styles of today... and for the great price I paid, it's tough to go wrong. Quality is surprisingly decent given the price, however the watch body seems to be some kind of chromed plastic and the band is definitely on the lighter/flimsier end of the watchband spectrum. No complaints here, but obviously you are getting what you pay for in terms of durability and weight. This men's watch would probably be a perfect size for most women, as it's very thin and compact, and the band is easily adjustable. For men who are used to a somewhat larger watch (like me), beware that this one will look and feel very small and delicate on the average guy's wrist.


This watch is a tried and true classic - a reliable time piece for a reasonable price.


You can't beat this watch for value. It keeps good time and is convenient to use. I especially like the type of band and clasp. It is simply amazing that such a worthy product can be produced, sold, and delivered to my mailbox for so little cost.


I bought this watch to replace my grandfather's late seventies generic brand watch which had just recently (last year) died. Overall, I am very impressed with the quality of this watch. Although it's not the most sylish piece of jewelry, it seems very sturdy and easy to program, etc... The only issue I had with it was that I preferred a stretchy wristband and maybe I didn't read the product description closely enough, but it has a tricky snap-closed wristband...hard for old people to close. Other than that, I was very satisfied with this product.

I have had this watch for about 14+ years. Naturally, the battery has been replaced a few times.

Since the band is not expansion, I found a one that looks very nice on the watch. Check Wal-Mart for bands. Sometimes they have them and other times they don't.

No, it doesn't have a light. If it did you would need to replace the battery much more often so that is not a feature I look for.

Both Energizer and Maxell make battery #365 that is a perfect replacement for the 1116 that is VERY hard to find anymore. Other brands may also have this #365.

My wrist is rather small so this watch is an ideal sized digital for me.




I have the exact opposite issue with the clasp that the below reviewer has -- my clasp snaps shut and stays shut! I have to get a screwdriver to pry it open to remove it because my fingernails are just not strong enough, and I have strong nails. I've been wearing it off-and-on for three months -- maybe it will be easier to open with the passage of time.

Also, I don't understand why there would be an impression that the band was expansion-type; the description states that there is a clasp and it is the fold-over type. But maybe they recently changed the description.

Otherwise, I agree completely with A. Rogers' review: this is a great watch. With all the timer features, it is indispensible for a mom. Compared to all the other watches out there with all these timer features, this one is NOT clunky-looking at all. I would call it sleek, in fact. Most watches with these features are big, thick, sporty-Ironman-looking watches, but not this one. I wear the version with the plastic band for everyday, and I wear this metallic one for dressier occasions.

The only drawback to this watch (aside from the tight clasp which will hopefully loosen a bit) is the fact that it doesn't have a light. I don't know the technology; maybe adding a light would make it thick and clunky since most lighted watches are clunky-looking.

As stated, this is a hard-working little watch for everyday use, and it lasts a long time although you won't be passing it along to your grandkids. Buy this watch -- for all the features and the great price, you won't be disappointed.


This is a very functional watch. The instant countdown timer on the watch can be set by just pressing a button on the watch. For 1 mins, press once, 5 mins press twice, etc etc. Theres not too many watch on the market with this type of function. The isntant countdown timer is quick and handy which you can set while in motion - for example when jogging or walking and not having to stop to set the timer. This feature is the only reason I've purchased this watch. The watch itself is very plain looking, and in the past I've owned 5 of these watches over the past 15 years. This is the first watch of this type I've purchased with metal band. I can't really wear the same watch which comes with the rubber type of watch band for a long period of time since it makes my skin itch but I do not have problem with the metal band. This metal watch band is ridiculously long. My wrist is an average size. The metal watch band is not one which can be easily shorten by yourself. Moving the catch on one side of the band can easily shorten one side of the watch band, but to shorten the other side by trying to remove the metal link is puzzeling. I've emailed Casio tech support for instruction but the instruction they emailed back to me seem to apply to other different type of watch bands which was not helpful. Because the metal link on the watch band can not be easily remove like other watch bands, I give them 4 stars rating instead of 5 stars. It'l be a trip for me to a watch shop and then I have to spend $10 to $15 extra just to shorten the watch band. The watch itself is a very good simple watch. I just wished it came with instruction on shortening the watch band and wished it had a built in light within it.


The watch lives up to it's reputation of easy setting alarm. I agree the clasp is weak and comes undone. Would be nice to have multiple alarms but the easy reset keeps me on time for meetings.


I am a homeschooling mother of six and grandmother or 4. The countdown timer and alarm on this watch is what keeps bringing me back. I now have one each in black, gold, and stainless steel. I hope they will make a red one and my set will be complete!


I have had about 5 versions of this same watch over the last 12 or so years. I LOVE the countdown timer feature for everything from baking to napping to walking to getting out the door. I know it won't last long if it is true to form, but I will always buy a new one if I can. This is far more attractive than the ones I have bought at retail outlets which had vinyl bands and all-black faces. I don't understand the people who say the band clasp doesn't work well. Works fine for me. At the price, three years of use is a good buy.


This is a great watch at a great price. I'm on my third one in 20 years. True it doesn't last forever, but what do you want at this price?

I love the easy-to-use digital features, especially the countdown timer. I use it all the time for cooking or time-outs for the kids, or to remind myself that I really need to leave in 5 minutes!

Last time my hubby changed the battery he messed up the water-proof gasket so now I need a new one.

I agree with others that the included watchband isn't the greatest. That's why I only gave 4 stars. Long ago I bought a stretch band and now just swap it out.

Casio, please never stop making this watch. But consider changing the band to a stretch one. That would make this watch truly perfect.


The product arrived rapidly and was what we ordered. However, the watch band has never stayed clasped. We've taken it to two watch shops and said "we don't work on Casios." We said it was just the band and they turned up their nose. Obviously, we won't be shopping at those shops again. Too much hassle and expense to return this item considering the cost, so we're looking to replace the band already--which will cost more than the watch.


Why Amazon didn't point out that they have the exact same watch listed under another description for $5 less I have no idea. It makes an otherwise fine purchase leave you feeling ripped off.


Love this watch. It's hard to find a non-sport watch with a digital display, not to mention one with an adjustable strap. The strap might be a challenge to adjust if you're not familiar with the type, but the clasp is sturdy - it's never fallen off once. The only con is that it doesn't have a light-up display.

Casio Men's G-Shock Classic Digital Watch #DW6900-1V

I bought this a few weeks ago and I am very satisfied with it. It is easy to read, size is big but not overly big and it is a classic looking G-Shock.


I purchased this one to replace another G shock that I purchased through Amazon about 9months ago.That G shock worked great for about 6 months and then it went blank.Replaced the battery 2 days later screen was flickering and went out completely and died all together.I saw several reviews about that particular watch that explained the same thing that happened to mine.I should of paid more attention to the reviews and I would'nt have ended up with a dead watch.

I read several reviews on this model of G shock and I could not find one bad review.The only low starred ones stated that the watch looked older.This is the classic or original style of the G shock watch and I have had it for about 2 months now with no problems.Only time will tell the longevity though.But otherwise I am happy with this watch.


The only watch I wear. I like this model because the adjust button is flush w/ the case. i found w/ other G-shocks the adjust button was easily activated when wrestling around w/ my kids or dog. My wife has gotten me more expensive watches but they end up in the night stand unable to match the straight forward functions of the G-Shock. A solid sounding alarm, a backlight that can stand in for a good penlight and shear durability. I've crashed my mtn bike w/ it, smashed it on rocks while river rafting, scuba w/ it and fought fire w/ it. It's toughness can make changing a broken band a real bitch though. Too bad so sad. For the GQ boys you will have a hard time buttoning a long sleeve shirt. Not my problem. Enjoy.


I purchased this watch for my husband who has a very long history of breaking watches every 3 - 4 months. I purchased the watch and gave it to him. He has worn the watch everyday and has received a lot of compliments on it. The guys he works with are so impressed with the watch that they are all looking to purchase this brand simply because the watch is so durable. The watch is only 2+ months old, I'll update this or write a new review later to let you know how it is.


I bought this Gshock to replace an identical one I lost during last year (after having it for 8 years, since 2000). It's an strong classic watch almost indestructible. QUality is unbeatable, price is perfect, it's great for casual use, and for running and swimming..

I purchased this watch for ~$70 almost 4 years ago to add to my G-Shock collection and have been wearing (and abusing) it ever since. The watch is extremely robust and has never let me down. These G-Shocks are something of a true gem in the watch market. And hey, in case you need another reason to buy this tough boy, the DW6900 is part of a select group of watches (along with it's brother - the DW5900) that are flight qualified for NASA space missions! How cool is that?


In a few years I went through at least 10 watches, and this one is one of the toughest Ive had. I have a Luminox that I bought for 3X the price but I still keep on coming back to this one.


It has taken more punishment then I thought possible and come out with only small scratch.


I have had two of these and will buy a third soon. Why? Well, I have a knack for losing them. I had my first for close to 7 years (on the original battery) before I lost it. Bought a second one and that one dissapeared within months. You could say I'm not meant to have this watch but it's so good (and cheap enough @ amazon) that I will keep buying it. It is big and very sporty though, so I use it only for rugged outdoor activities, very informal wear, and sports.


I am very pleased with the service provided. The express shipping allowed me to receive my order in time for Christmas and he was very happy with it.


This is a great watch, and a super buy. It takes all sorts of abuse, and keeps on working. I work in construction and also have my hands and arms in water frequently. This watch takes all that I put it through with no problem. The only drawback was there was no instruction manual included, but I had an old one from my last G-Shock (the strap finally couldn't be re-attached, but the clock part still worked great) so I could set it, etc.
